Old Hands Roble 2013 wins Gold Medal in Organic Wine Mundus Vini Awards


Old Hands Roble 2013, the beautiful organic wine from the Spanish region of Alicante was awarded with the Gold Medal in the XVI International Wine Award competition for organic wines organized by the prestigious German academy of Mundus Vini. This renowned event receives wine submissions from all over the world, including the best and most exclusive wine regions.

A highly qualified international jury comprising oenologists, wine-makers, professional wine traders, sommeliers and expert journalists taste the wines in ‘blind’ tasting rounds. Only the 40% of the samples submitted with the highest points is destined to receive prizes and less than 20% receive a Gold Medal.

This award is considered one of the most important events in the wine industry, the results and reviews are universally recognized and used by wine professionals of the world as a guide to better study their future wine choices.

Old Hands Roble 2013 is made of 100% Monastrell grapes from the DOC of Yecla (Alicante), from organic wineries and after 4 month in French oak barrel. This wine is produces by Bodegas La Purisima, exporting wines to 30 countries all over the world.

This wine is very dark, deep black-hued ruby-red color. Old Hands Roble 2013 has a firm and tightly bound nose with aromas of bright red berried fruits interwoven with nuances of nuts, earth and minerals, unfolding spicy oak and enriching cedar-like details. The aromas build in depth and concentration with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the fruit is stylishly restrained in expression, showing subtly sweet and ripe flavors of raspberries and blackberries. Some mineral, spice and cedar nuances emerge to add to the interest. The mouth features a firm core with fine-textured flowery tannin extraction, and balanced, lacy acidity, lending an elegant proportion. The wine carries to a long, delicate finish with nuances of raspberries and spice.
